Penny Stock:
Kia ora, I’m Penny.
I’m a 3rd year counselling student and am doing a placement here at Greenstone Doors. I live in Lower Hutt with my husband and together we are riding the roller coaster of raising our 3 children into late teens and early adulthood. I’m a student member of NZAC and have loved my training so far in becoming a counsellor. It is a privilege to journey with people in a safe space as they share their personal stories. My previous placement experience has been at a local intermediate school.
Shona:
I’m Shona. I’ve been at Greenstone Doors as a volunteer counsellor for 8 years. I love the team I work with and my clients. As a young person I trained as a nurse and then a midwife. After marriage and children we became foster parents and I also worked as a pastoral care worker for our church. It was this back ground that gave me a love for women and related issues around pregnancy, inter personal violence and couples work.
I am full member of NZCCA and have trained in EFT (emotionally focused therapy) and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy)
Sarah Turk:
II’m Sarah, a second-year trainee counsellor. I offer a warm, supportive space to explore your challenges through person-centred counselling. I believe that you are the expert in your life and I practise deep listening, empathy, and genuine connection to help you find clarity and confidence. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help shift unhelpful thoughts and behaviours.
I have experience supporting clients with grief, anxiety, depression, relationships, strengths and boundaries. I also have insight with parenting, family breakdown, and LGBTQ+ issues.
It’s important to me that my clients feel safe, valued, and heard as we work together.
Debbie:
Hi my name is Debbie, I’m a second-year counselling student with Bethlehem Training Institute, Bachelor of Counselling. I’ve had experience in general counselling particularly with younger people and also bring my own experiences of working through emotional distress. I have an understanding of Te ao Māori and have also lived and worked cross-culturally overseas in South East Asian cultures. I bring the values of compassion and judgement free understanding to my work and enjoy using person-centred and CBT approaches.
